On Privacy Models for RFID

چکیده

We provide a formal model for identification schemes. Under this model, we give strong definitions for security and privacy. Our model captures the notion of a powerful adversary who can monitor all communications, trace tags within a limited period of time, corrupt tags, and get side channel information on the reader output. Adversaries who do not have access to this side channel are called narrow adversaries. Depending on restrictions on corruption, adversaries are called strong, destructive, forward, or weak adversaries. We derive some separation results: strong privacy is impossible. Narrow-strong privacy implies key agreement. We also prove some constructions: narrow-strong and forward privacy based on a public-key cryptosystem, narrow-destructive privacy based on a random oracle, and weak privacy based on a pseudorandom

Enhancing privacy of recent authentication schemes for low-cost RFID systems

Nowadays Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems have appeared in lots of identification and authentication applications. In some sensitive applications, providing secure and confidential communication is very important for end-users. To this aim, different RFID authentication protocols have been proposed, which have tried to provide security and privacy of RFID users. In this paper, we a...

Traceability improvements of a new RFID protocol based on EPC C1 G2

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) applications have spread all over the world. In order to provide their security and privacy, researchers proposed different kinds of protocols. In this paper, we analyze the privacy of a new protocol, proposed by Yu-Jehn in 2015 which is based on Electronic Product Code Class1 Generation 2 (EPC C1 G2) standard. By applying the Ouafi_Phan privacy model, we s...

Game-Based Cryptanalysis of a Lightweight CRC-Based Authentication Protocol for EPC Tags

The term "Internet of Things (IoT)" expresses a huge network of smart and connected objects which can interact with other devices without our interposition. Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a great technology and an interesting candidate to provide communications for IoT networks, but numerous security and privacy issues need to be considered. In this paper, we analyze the security and ...

A Survey on Privacy Frameworks for RFID Authentication

Due to rapid growth of RFID system applications, the security and privacy problems become more and more important to guarantee the validity of RFID systems. Without introducing proper privacy protection mechanisms, widespread deployment of RFID could raise privacy concerns to both companies and individuals. As a fundamental issue for the design and analysis of secure RFID systems, some formal R...

Privacy Models for RFID Authentication Protocols

Privacy is a major concern in RFID systems, especially with widespread deployment of wireless enabled interconnected personal devices. In this paper, we consider privacy issues in RFID systems where the authorized readers must be able to identify tags without an adversary being able to trace them, and provide a formal security model for privacy in RFID system. Under this model, we analyze the r...

A New RFID Privacy Model

This paper critically examines some recently proposed RFID privacy models. It shows that some models suffer from weaknesses such as insufficient generality and unrealistic assumptions regarding the adversary’s ability to corrupt tags. We propose a new RFID privacy model that is based on the notion of indistinguishability and that does not suffer from the identified drawbacks. We demonstrate the...
